Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates will conduct a press availability at 12:35 p.m. EDT at Fort Lewis, Wash.  Secretary Gates’ visit is part of his ongoing efforts to visit military installations, meet with troops and their families, thank them for their service and hear their concerns.  Media interested in attending this media opportunity are asked to call the Fort Lewis Public Affairs Office at (253) 967-0148, after hours, call 263-967-0015 and ask for the PAO on call.

U.S. Army soldiers conduct assessments in the Sadr City. -  U.S. Army soldiers from the 432nd Civil Affairs Battalion and the 926th Engineer Brigade Combat Team conduct assessments in the Sadr City district of Baghdad, Iraq, on July 2, 2008.
